Did you see AD Construction Group on ITV News?
The ITV News team visited us to speak to our SHEQ Director, Richard, who knows first-hand the opportunities an apprenticeship can provide. Richard began his career as a painting and decorating apprentice and progressed on a learning journey to become a senior leader within the industry.
ITV also filmed some of our apprentices undertaking a Building Safety Act course and interviewed our PAS apprentice who gave viewers an insight into the professional development that apprenticeships can offer. The important message is that university isn't the only route to a successful career and an apprenticeship doesn't mean giving up the opportunity to gain a degree.
Degree apprenticeships and higher apprenticeships allow people to earn while they learn, gaining valuable real-world experience alongside academic qualifications. You can build a career, earn a salary, develop professional skills and, in many cases, achieve a degree – without following the traditional university route.
At AD, we've seen first-hand how apprentices can become the skilled professionals, managers and leaders of tomorrow. Apprenticeships are not simply about filling entry-level roles; they are about building a long-term talent pipeline and investing in the skills our industry needs.
For employers considering apprenticeships, there is plenty of support available. Organisations such as Skills England, The 5% Club, Investors in People and the Association of Apprentices provide valuable guidance, resources and support to help businesses develop effective apprenticeship programmes.
Our advice - don't automatically assume university is the only path to success and don't overlook apprentices when you're planning your future workforce.
Give people the opportunity to learn, earn, contribute and progress and you may be helping to develop your next generation of skilled professionals and leaders.
A huge thank you to the ITV News team for coming to AD and helping to showcase what apprenticeships can really look like in practice and well done to all our apprentices who represented AD so brilliantly.
